Cal Harrelson is a full-time realtor with more than 23 years experience as a developer and $200 million in real estate sales in Horry and Georgetown Counties. He is Garden City Realty's 2016 Top Producer and Listing Agent of the Year, 2015 Listing Agent of the Year, 2014 Listing Agent of the Year and is presently ranked within the top two-percent of total MLS sales volume for the Grand Strand market. He is also a recipient of the Coastal Carolinas Association of Realtors, Realtor Image Award.
In 1986 Harrelson founded The Harrelson Group, a public relations and marketing firm located in Pawleys Island, and Harrelson PR. He developed and implemented public relations and marketing plans to accomplish client objectives through the comprehensive use of communication techniques. Harrelson has been particularly successful at earning media exposure to achieve coverage on The Today Show, National Public Radio, CNN, Washington Post, national wire services, local and regional television, as well as in every daily newspaper in the U.S. He has also earned media exposure in the center-spread of Golf Digest and the front cover of Southern Living magazine. Harrelson's marketing background had been effective for his sellers.
As the 1991 President of the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce, Harrelson and his board created Leadership Georgetown, a program aimed at developing and enhancing the knowledge and skills of community leaders. In addition, Harrelson arranged a private meeting with President George H. W. Bush to discuss South Carolina's weather-beaten coast following Hurricane Hugo. The West Wing meeting in the Roosevelt room of The White House focused on the President's portrayal of South Carolina before the National press regarding the destruction of Hurricane Hugo.
Harrelson was Director of Reagan-Bush Campaign '84 for South Carolina, Fundraising Director for the South Carolina Republican Party and has co-directed successful Congressional campaigns. In addition, he was Director of Santee Cooper Country, a Division of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (DRT) and Director of Public Relations for Wachesaw Plantation on the Intracoastal Waterway in Murrells Inlet.
Throughout his community Harrelson has been involved in activities and organizations that include Rotary International, Boy Scouts of America, March of Dimes' Walk America, United Way, American Cancer Society, South Carolina Crawfish Festival, as well as an active church member.
Cal is a native of the South Carolina Coast. His family moved to the shore in 1924 and his grandfather, W. LeRoy Harrelson, served as the first Mayor of Myrtle Beach in 1938. As a South Carolina native who has lived in the Midlands, Upstate and along the Coast, Cal appreciates everything South Carolina has to offer. He and his wife, Julie, have one son, who has taken to his Dad's love of hunting, fishing and taking time to notice the small things in life and in the woods.
Harrelson knows success in selling real estate boils down to two things; pricing and marketing.
